Student Representatives
The Sociology Department appoints two student representatives each year, based on nominations and self-nominations. They attend monthly department meetings (with the exception of when personnel issues and student prizes are discussed).
Feel free to get in touch with one or both of them if you have questions, concerns, or ideas about how the Sociology Department can better fulfill its mission.
THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE 2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE:

Diana Dai Hi! My name is Diana Dai, and I am a junior double major in Sociology and Economics. I love sociology because it helps me see the world, understand other people, and better understand myself. Every conversation — with theory, with research, with real people — breaks my first intuition and gives me a moment of clarity. I really enjoy that process. In my free time, I love shopping, swimming, and traveling to see the beautiful world. |

Chant Tang Hi, I’m Chant Tang. I’m a senior with a double major in Sociology and Management and Business. I chose sociology because the sociological lens provides us with a way to discover the whole society. We can explore the world as outsiders. My favorite sociology class is Social Inequality by Professor John Brueggemann. I love photography, badminton, skiing, and cooking. |
